Interactive AI Avatar Technology
There are two approaches to creating AI humans: AI Video Avatars and 3D Animated Avatars. Both have their pros and cons from being cost effective and realistic.
AI Video Avatars
One is to use generative AI to take an existing video of the person and simulate a video of them speaking the text produced by the large language models and the retrieval augmented generation knowledge base. Although AI video avatars are incredibly realistic avatars, being an exact replica of the persons appearance, they are limited on body movement. Typically, the AI avatar video is the torso up with primarily a talking head and expressions. There are also photo avatars, generated from a still photo, but the instant avatar created are not realistic AI avatars.
3D Animated Avatars
As is done in movie animations, 3D models are created of the person using arrays of high definition cameras. These 3D models have full body movement. This allows you to have more than just a talking avatar, but also a fully moving and interactive avatar. These customizable digital avatars can be interacted with using a holographic projector, making a great museum exhibit. 3D animated avatars are time consuming to create, requiring an 3D modeler to edit the avatar to mimic its movement and expressions.
